Did you set any New Year’s resolutions?
I know many people are looking to get fit and healthy.
Make your resolutions stick – Love Your Exercise.
In January gym membership numbers go up, Pub sales figures plummet, as everyone goes on a temporary detox, and many people dare to try something new in order to put their health resolutions in practice.
But do you love your exercise routine?
Here are 3 Ways to Make Sure You Love the Exercise You Do:
1) Choose easy integration into your life style
While looking for quality is very important, also look for ease:
Is the location convenient? Can you go there before work / after you picked up the kids / … (fill in your duties)?
And does the overall atmosphere and fitness philosophy strike a cord with you?
If not, you might see your motivation vanish very quickly.
2) Reward yourself
Set clear goals and help yourself stick to them by rewarding yourself with small treats, e.g. a massage, a dinner night out, etc.
OR get real cash! I couldn’t believe my eyes, when I found out about this app:
Earn cash for staying active, paid by members who don’t. Stick with it, and Pact will motivate you to hit your health goals week-to-week!
I cannot wholeheartedly recommend it, as it has some flawed reviews and I haven’t tried it myself , but I thought it is a brilliant idea!
3) Listen to your body
Your mind can easily fall for the sales tactics of a gym, or into the idea of a “get fit and slim quick” promotion. Beware of a short lived crush, when during and/or after the first workouts you find yourself in excruciating pain or simply uninspired.
Your body is the one who will give you a real and brutally honest indication of whether you’ve found the exercise you love.
Similar to ‘love at first sight’ clearly showing up with butterflies in your stomach, you will sense how your body says a loud and clear YES to the movements you are doing.
Hope these three tips will help you choose the right exercise for you. I certainly have found my love in Nia and I love when you come and join me for it.
